Holly Meeker Rom is a painter working in watercolor media on paper. Her art is described as lyrical, colorful, translucent, sensuous, and simplified. She has over 40 years of practice arranging visual elements, historical art references and drawing skills to create compositions that live and breathe
with imagination, joy, and confidence. Most importantly, she creates expressive visions of nature, plants, architecture, and women.
Rom traveled the world extensively while also serving as a docent at The Metropolitan Museum of Art from 1997-2014, which impacted her understanding of art history and influenced her professional art. She has won awards in many shows, including the top award for water media in 2003 at the Flinn Gallery in Greenwich, CT, and at the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club annual, where she won multiple awards spanning 2004 - 2021. Most recently she was awarded the Artist Laureate 2023 Award from the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club.
She studied at Rhode Island School of Design, has a Master’s Degree in Fine Art in painting from American University in Washington, D.C. and a Bachelor’s Degree from Mills College. She is a professional board member emeritus of the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, a signature member of the Northwest Watercolor Society, a New York Artists Circle member, and a Salmagundi Club resident artist member.
